Social Justice, Law and Development - a PII seminar
The second PII seminar on 'Social Justice, Law and Development' focused on two Centre for Law and Society projects. The speaker was Marlese von Broembsen, a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law at UCT. Marlese is a trained lawyer and holds a Masters degree in Development Studies. Her work focuses on the nexus between poverty, informality, law and development. The seminar drew on four years spent working with black-owned informal businesses in townships near Cape Town, as well as many years of policy work for international aid agencies, South African agencies, the UCT Graduate School of Business, and government.
